You will find it at Siem Reap Night Market
After a long break…absent for 14 months…..now, let me share with you again of my collections
Pumpkin Flowers have a lovely sweet mild pumpkin flavour. Pick them early in the morning when they are in full bloom. Pick the male flowers, the female flowers have a tiny pumpkin at the base. Leave the female to grow into a pumpkin.
Pumpkin flowers are also delicious to cook. However, I have never eaten them but I know they are edible.
This vegetable, pumpkin boasts more than good looks. It’s also full of nutrition, dishing up vitamin C, beta-carotene, fiber, and potassium. One half cup of cooked pumpkin provides a day’s supply of vitamin A.
Our initial plan want to begin traveling at 9.00 am after our breakfast, but had to be postponed because one of our vehicles have puntured tyre. Then at 10 am, we started our journey through from siem Reap to Steung Traeng through Tbaeng Meanchey.
I actually was arrived at Siem Reap three days ago. Previous day, I had arrived in Phnom Penh in the morning. Then in the evening I met up with an agronomist from Riyadh that arrived from Sydney. The next morning I and him flew to Siem Reap with Cambodia Angkor Air.
Upon arrival, we proceed to the Preah Vihear through Anlong Veng. Having finished our tasks there, we went back to Siem Reap and arrived at the hotel at 10pm.
The next day, I arranged a meeting with a group of logistic and agronomist from Kuala Lumpur and bring them again to Preah Vihear. Agronomist from Riyadh was decided to take rest in Siem Reap after travelling more than a week.
Two days ago we received orders from Riyadh, Sydney and Kuala Lumpur to continue our visit to Steung Traeng, even it is not in our initial plan.
According to our guide, travel from Siem Reap to Steung Traeng by road, we had to pass through southern province Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Kratie and then to the north to Steung Traeng which covers a distance of almost 650 km. So he advised for us to take a shortcut from Siem Reap to Tbaeng Meanchey and by crossing the Mekong River to Steung Traeng directly. Estimated this trip will covers a distance of 180 km, and partly will pass through a logging track.
Travelling to Tbaeng Meanchey running smoothly even we’ve stopped briefly in cultivation areas in Kulaen. After having lunch in Tbaeng Meanchey, at approximately at 1.30 pm, we continue our journey.
At first, the journey was not smooth as there are road construction activities. Then we know that route from Tbaeng Meanchey to Thalabarivat at the riverside of Mekong River, is being upgraded to National Road No. 9.
After 4:30 hours, we finally arrived at Talabarivat. Across the Mekong River and Sekong River we see Steung Traeng afar. Actually Steung Traeng situated at the confluence of two rivers, Mekong and Sekong.
