The upstream activity in mining is to search and certain the availability, quality and quantity of the prospective mineral. The Diamond Drilling team was in action gathering core samples of prospective Iron Ore body.

    The guy in the DD photo is actually Geologist, Bruce Mellor.
    The DD supervisor was Michael Power, and he was indeed an Irishman,
    Sadly, both are demised.

  2. Interesting photos from Graeme Scanlon. I knew the driller but have forgotten his name. I recall he was given a drill rig by Rompinco when the mine closed in 1970? Or am I wrong? He was Irish as I recall. Name?
